A New York lawyer's adventures with animal-free eating
Worried about the egg recall? You should be
As I’m sure you’ve heard, there is an egg recall going on now for 380 million eggs (as of 2:51 EST on 8/19 – the number keeps getting bigger) because of concerns of salmonella in the eggs… It’s for eggs sold between May and August 2010.
Wonder why you’re sick? Maybe it’s because what you’re eating has been tainted in the factory farming system. Actually, that’s kinda likely. Guess you’re SOL if you’ve already eaten these sickening eggs…
“Salmonella, which is generally contracted from contaminated poultry, meat, eggs, or water, impacts the intestinal tract.
Symptoms include diarrhea, fever and abdominal cramps, which typically begin within 12 to 72 hours, according to the CDC. Vomiting, chills, headache and muscle pains may also occur, according to the Mayo Clinic. These symptoms last about four to seven days, and then go away without specific treatment in healthy people.”
“The elderly, infants, and people with impaired immune systems are at heightened risk for developing a more serious illness because of salmonella, the CDC said. Some people can develop life-threatening complications if the infection spreads beyond the intestines.”
Just another in a long list of reasons to stop eating eggs, dairy, and meat.
